Most portfolio trackers ask for your bank login on day one. They use services like Plaid or Yodlee to connect directly to your brokerage, which means handing over the same credentials you use to move money.

Greenline doesn’t do this. No bank linking. No credentials. No third-party data aggregators. You control exactly what Greenline sees, because you choose what to upload.

How Greenline handles your data differently

With most trackers, the flow is: give us your bank login, we’ll pull everything. You don’t control what’s accessed, and you may not even know what’s being collected behind the scenes.

With Greenline, the flow is:

1. You download a statement from your brokerage (or take a screenshot)
2. You upload it to Greenline
3. Greenline reads only what’s in that document

That’s the entire data pipeline. There’s no background connection to your bank. No ongoing access. No credentials stored anywhere.

Why does this matter?

When you share your bank credentials with a third-party service, you may be violating your brokerage’s terms of service. If something goes wrong (unauthorized trades, a security breach), your bank’s fraud protection may not cover you because you voluntarily shared your login.

Greenline avoids this entirely. Your relationship with your brokerage stays between you and your brokerage. Greenline is a read-only view of the data you choose to share.

What about Plaid and Yodlee?

Plaid and Yodlee are data aggregation services used by many fintech apps. They work by storing your bank credentials and using them to log into your account on your behalf, sometimes daily. This gives the app live data, but it also gives a third party persistent access to your financial accounts.

Greenline doesn’t use Plaid, Yodlee, or any similar service. There’s no background connection to your bank, ever.

Is my uploaded data secure?

The data you upload to Greenline is used to build your portfolio view and nothing else. It’s not shared with third parties, not sold to advertisers, and not used for anything beyond showing you your own investments.

Can I delete my data?

Yes. You can remove any uploaded statement or delete your account entirely. When you delete your data, it’s gone.
